Vaute Couture

limited-edition recycled polyester and organic cotton sweatshirt

Vaute Couture‘s wildly popular ‘Friends Not Fashion’ sweatshirt is back!  The first run sold out in less than a week, so now is the time to get this eco-heather fleece top made of a recycled polyester and organic cotton blend printed with water-based ink.  I love the hip, slouchy look of this sweatshirt and would easily pair it with leggings and flipflops to run errands while fashionably comfortable.  I can’t decide on my favorite color or style, so I’ll leave for you orglamic readers to decide when you click here to buy this limited-edition run today.

Bodkin

While clothing lines featured on orGLAMic are sparse (we are too darn picky!) Bodkin satisfies our eco-friendly design needs season after season.  I am utterly obsessed with shorts and rompers this summer, hence the photo above, but the Spring/Summer 2010 collection is also filled with light, ephemeral dresses and tops of impeccable design.  All of Bodkin’s offerings are made of sustainability-oriented fabrics including post-consumer recycled polyester, hand-loomed weaves from collectives in India, regenerated and recycled wool, fine organic cottons, and decades-old salvaged textiles.  Click here to browse the collections (Autumn/Winter 2010 features some amazingly tailored pants!) and here to find a retailer near you.

Whitten Grey

Whitten Grey offers orGLAMic style for children with their precious, yet sophisticated, clothing line.  The company’s Spring 2010 collection is comprised of an array of grey, white and red pieces in adorable styles and cuts.  As is the entire collection, the Pleated Jumper pictured above is made in the USA of 100% organic cotton.  Even more wonderful, through their Project Little Grey Dress, the company donates one dress to a little girl in need for every dress purchased.  In fact, last week they headed to India to distribute a batch of dresses!  A great gift for any orGLAMic tot, click here to find an online or local retailer near you.

Fleabags

As regular orGLAMic readers know, I am a handbag/purse/tote/clutch/and every-variation-in-between aficionado.  New York-based Fleabags offers one of the few orGLAMic options that I love with such passion.  Made of rich brown vegetable-tanned leather and certified organic cotton/hemp canvas (and lined with chic navy and white striped cotton fabric!) The Original Flea in Saddle shown above is my absolute favorite.  Although I am dreaming about how good this would look with my signature gold sandals all summer long, this bag is clearly a year-round staple for any orGLAMic wardrobe.  Click here to shop all eight styles right now.

Stewart+Brown

Bundle up in style this holiday season with this orGLAMic sweater from Stewart+Brown.  Always a staple for organic basics, I was delighted to stumble upon the tres fashionable Ladder Stitch Cardigan.  This 100% cashmere cardigan is made with fibers hand-combed from the downy undercoat of cashmere goats residing on the remote, rugged steppe of Outer Mongolia.  The company harvests, spins and knits their cashmere designs in Mongolia in an effort to avoid environmentally damaging desertification due to overgrazing, and to help sustain the centuries-old Mongolian herders’ nomadic way of life.  Featured in the November issue of Vogue, I apparently am not the only one loving this orGLAMic piece – click here to see Michelle Williams modeling the cardigan!  Or click here to purchase your very own.

burningtorchSometimes, companies offer such great products that they get an orGLAMic shout-out more than once!  Burning Torch is one of those companies.  Last year, I couldn’t resist their recycled cashmere striped sweaters for men, and today the chill in the Southern California air is making me think about how great a Recycled Cashmere Hoodie would feel.  There are 30 styles of sweaters -from cardigans to vests- that are made out of repurposed, vintage cashmere.  Click here to browse the women’s selection and here for the men’s options.  Either way, these orGLAMic fashions are sure to keep you (and loved ones, if you’re already holiday shopping!) orGLAMically warm.
